The insured amount generally amounts to 100 million swiss francs per event. The benefits of compulsory insurance of civil liability for motor vehicles are set by the law and barely vary from one company to the other. And yet, the premiums may show significant differences.
4. When to opt for insurance partial?
L’casco insurance partial is optional. It covers damage to the insured vehicle that does have not been caused by the motorist and for which the liability of a third party is not engaged. An example: is accidents with wild animals.
Other events covered by the partial :
- Fire
- Glass breakage
- Damage due to natural elements
- Flight
- Damage caused by moles
- Acts of vandalism
To find out if the insurance is partial is interesting, different factors come into play. If the vehicle is often parked outside insurance, partial coverage is recommended. the age of the vehicle and its value at time T are also determinants in the decision to take a partial or not. From a number of years, it is often more interesting to repair the vehicle given its value.
5. When to buy fully comprehensive insurance?
Lawfully comprehensive insurance is a combination of the coverage afforded by the partial and by the collision. This last supports the damages caused by the insured person to his / her vehicle while driving, for example when it hits the vehicle that precedes it.
Fully comprehensive insurance is usually interesting for vehicles less than five years. Beyond that, it is advisable to consider the purchase of a partial, best market. In fact, very often, the amount of the premium is no longer commensurate with the value of the vehicle. Fully comprehensive insurance remains interesting for vehicles especially expensive.
Good to know: in the case of vehicles leased, fully comprehensive insurance is usually mandatory.
6. What additional coverages do I need?
In addition to coverage of basic liability insurance for motor vehicles, partial and fully comprehensive, it is possible to take additional safeguards. If some of these blanket options are interesting to all holders and all holders of the vehicle and should always be included to the police, others are only relevant for profiles or specific vehicles. To avoid any unpleasant surprises in the event of a claim, it is advisable to review the coverage options before signing his contract. Different blanket options are detailed below.
Insurance passengers
L’insurance passengers cover the injuries sustained by the driver or the driver and passengers in an accident. However, his subscription is often unnecessary, given that, in Switzerland, employed persons are covered by the accident insurance is compulsory or have integrated this coverage into their health insurance. Only persons transporting frequently foreign passengers on board should consider the purchase of this warranty.
Damage of parking
The insurance of car parking covers the damages caused to the vehicle in the parking lot by unknown third parties. It can often be concluded that in combination with fully comprehensive insurance. This option is usually offered by insurers that are up to a certain age limit of the vehicle. Here you can find more information about the insurance parking.
Extended glass breakage coverage
Damage to the windshield, the rear window, and the side windows are normally covered by partial insurance coverage. However, the headlights are excluded from this coverage. The subscription of the “extended glass breakage coverage” is, therefore, particularly useful for vehicles with xenon headlights or items related to the glass (e.g. the cache of the stop light).
Insurance mobility (assistance)
Cover mobility, also known as insurance assistance, is typically done as part of partial insurance coverage. In all cases, comparing the offers is interesting. An outage can quickly get pricey. However, before you purchase, remember to look at the benefits of the magnifying glass. Because the scope of the services varies from one insurer to the other, the maximum coverage is more or less high depending on the companies.
Good to know: a travel insurance policy or membership of the TCS includes often insurance mobility. Here you can find more information about the breakdown assistance.
Protection in the event of a serious fault
In general, serious errors concerning violations of the code of the road could have been avoided, for example, to ignore a red light. In the case of an accident due to negligence of the insured person, the insurer is entitled to demand that she pay back a portion of the costs (appeals). Warranty protection in the event of a serious fault protects you against such an action.
The purchase of this option is recommended for all motorists. Important: are excluded from the coverage of the crime of hit and abuse, alcohol abuse, drug-taking as well as drowsiness.
Depreciation
New vehicles depreciate quickly. Even during the first year, the market value can drop well below the price of nine. Insurance including depreciation ensures that in the case of theft or total damage, the compensation will be greater than the value of the vehicle at time T. As a general rule, the warranty depreciation is included by default in the cover when taking out car insurance. The amount of compensation by year in the event of total loss figures in the conditions of each insurance company.
With some companies, it is possible to lower the premium by excluding the warranty depreciation. It is however not a solution to recommend.
Our advice: before you buy an insurance policy, compare the grids of capital values increased of different companies. In the case of total damage, the benefits vary greatly from one insurer to another and may represent a difference of up to 1000 francs in the event of a disaster.
Bonus Protection
Many insurers calculate premiums for car insurance, according to a system of bonus-malus. According to his driver profile, a bucket or a policyholder is assigned to a certain bonus level, which determines the amount of the premium. The more the bonus level is low, the higher the premium is low (for example a level of 35% bonus means that you are liable to pay only 35 % of the premium calculated). A loss makes you climb in levels of pricing and your premium increases. The warranty bonus protection prevents such a revaluation. However, this protection of the bonus do you covers, as a general rule, that in the limit of one claim per year of insurance.
Our advice : take small damage at your expense, in particular in cases where the amount of the claim does not exceed that of light, the amount of the deductible.
